Type of contract                : Permanent contract

The microbiology technician ensure, through specialized analyzes, the products safety in terms of microbiology, he/she is responsible for the conducting daily Microbiology laboratory analyses and tasks:

Adherence to Microbiology sampling plan and PEM (Pathogen Environmental Monitoring)

Correct application of laboratory procedures (preparation of reagents, sampling and analytical protocol) and participate to proficiency tests

Ensure Compliance to Good Lab Practices , ISO 17025 standards,  safety rules and instructions

Timely reporting and update of Lab documentation and analytical records

Ensure business continuity by covering other lab technician job in case of leave or absence

The Microbiology Lab technician must support the Microbiology Lab Leader in achieving high Compliance to BC standard and specification, but also in improvement /investigations projects.

Job qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor  in Food Science / Microbiology / or similar

Experience

  • At least 2 year of practical experience in Microbiology or Quality Assurance in an HACCP environment of a FMCG organization (good understanding of customers specifications)
  • Proficient in MS Office suite

Specific knowledge, competencies and skills required

  • Ability to perform Microbiological analyzes using standard methods
  • Knowledge of the methods and the tools of the management by the quality;
  • Good communication skills (excellent in writing and speaking)
  • Good interpersonal relationship and teamwork
  • Relational implication, know how to capitalize the experiences (experiments);

Description of tasks:

  • Respects the safety, quality and food safety regulations in the laboratory
  • Performs analyzes and ensures compliance with sampling plans, analyzes and procedures
  • Helps in the decision making by producing studies and analyses of impact;
  • Performs specialized analyzes (Salmonella, Ring test group, etc.) and all other analyzes requested by their hierarchy in  microbiology
  • Ensures the respect of Pathogen monitoring plan (bore water, boilers, cooler, environment etc.)
  • Records analysis data, Checks, interprets and makes the results of analyzes available (registers, computer network, etc.)
  • Supports root causes analysis of Microbiological deviations and implement corrective actions related to Microbiology to prevent them from reoccurring
  • Reduces waste in reagent consumption and perform lab stock inventory
  • Reports to the Microbiological Lab Leader, any deviation or compliance gap with lab equipment, reagent environment and calibration schedule
  • Realizes mandatory training and the training plan assigned to him for them.
  • Performs any other task or mission within or outside the department according to the needs of the hierarchy or management
